Anchoring in The Medes Islands

Regularisation of anchoring buoys

The Medes Islands, with their waters and seabed, are a spectacle of beauty that leaves no visitor indifferent.

As a nature reserve, recreational boaters cannot anchor freely, but can only moor to some of the buoys that the Generalitat de Catalunya installs for this purpose. In high season, it is very difficult to get one of these few buoys.

The Club Nàutic Estartit, commissioned Gassiot Lawyers & Property, to take the necessary steps with the Generalitat to guarantee the installation and maintenance of these buoys, in accordance with the regulations of the Natural Park's Master Plan.

Through our conversations with the CNE, we have seen that they want to protect the Medes and at the same time make it possible for nautical activities to be enjoyed while preserving the safety of people and the marine environment.

In high season, the current 90 buoys are insufficient for recreational boats wishing to anchor. The protection of the site is also a priority for the Club Nàutic Estartit, but without more buoys to anchor, the nautical sector and the enjoyment of visitors are harmed. Convinced that this new balance can be found, we will work together to make it happen.
